Bulldogs win a “Cross-Town” Shoot Out!

In one of the best season opening games of recent years the Garfield Bulldogs (East Los Angeles, CA) defeated the Montebello Oilers (Montebello, CA) 39-36 in a “Cross-Town” shoot out.  The contest was a tug-o-war type of game with seven lead changes and eleven touchdowns.

The star of the night was Garfield quarterback Adam Polanco who accounted for four touchdowns (2 pass, 2 rush) and around 270 yards of total offense.

Montebello got on the board first with a two yard touchdown run from Kris Rodriguez to go up 8-0.  The Bulldogs answered with a pair of rushing touchdowns from Polanco (1 yd) and Moses Gonzalez (6 yds) moving the score to 12-8.

Quarterback Gabriel Tapia answered back for the Oilers with a “BOMB” down the sideline to Mykael Loera late in the 2nd quarter!  15-12 Montebello.

 

The “Play of the Game” came with two seconds left in the first half. WATCH IT @ 2:05 on the video below.
